In Summer

The lake offers a wide range of angling to suit everyone, from the experienced angler who can set their sights on one of the carp to 20lb, to beginners  who have just started fishing. The lake has lots of reeds, rushes, and lily pads for carp to hide-amongst. So why not go in Search of Gold for the Crucian Carp, use a 0.09 mainline with a .3g fine bristle pole float and a size 18 barbless wide gape hook, use a small bait sweetcorn/chopped worm/ pellet/ or maggot fished just touching bottom or 1/2 inch over depth changing the depth can make all the differance get your presentation right good luck.

In Winter

After dawn and before Dusk try for the Perch with it's colours and markings it can easily camouflages itself into it's surroundings, weed beds, sunken branches and tree roots. These colours and markings are less distinguishable in older specimens who tend to favour deep water and solitude.

There are various ways of catching Perch.A well place float fished or legered lob worm or maggot will always tempt the fish especially if fished close to an obstacle or an overhanging tree,Allow a long tail between the weight and the hook too, as the slightest hint of drag will have it ejected very smartly a big lob worm will often tempt the older and bigger Perch.

Paradise Lake wishes everyone a productive season ahead.

Maggots are a favoured year-round bait of the pleasure angler but they can also be a good winter carp bait. They can be a very instant bait, often encouraging carp to feed even in the coldest of weathers. Fished with a  PVA bag of freebies and mag aligner style rig or even using one of the Korda maggot clips, fish as close to the island reeds as you can, maggots can be devastating!

Friday 4th June

Hi Everyone.

The nice weather has seen some good catches of carp at Paradise lake, a good number  to double figures and a 14lb ghosty,16lb common, and the big orange 20 pounder caught on a piece of cat meat. Tench and big Roach often snap up pellet and corn baits presented over accurately fed loose offerings. Bream /Skimmers /Rudd and some really good sized Perch have been caught. Fish a fine setup close in or next to a lily pad for the Crucian Carp, Paradise has some good size Crucian’s but they are finicky feeders watch for the slightest float movement and try not to spook the shoal, be prepared for a big carp to take your bait.
A waggler and feeder approach is also worth considering in places where  there are lily beds and close to the island.
Paul and his son Thomas had a good mornings fishing catching 5carp/pearch /Roach and Paul had a 3lb Crucian your picture is on the site Thomas well done.
Tight lines.

Hi everyone.

21/7/10.

This very dry weather has made the fishing a bit more a challenge, the water level has dropped by over 18 inches, oxygen levels are also low making the carp a bit reluctant to feed, on the other hand good catches of  Skimmers/ Tench (Roach some over a pound have been caught) and some very nice Crucians to. Phil has asked me to mention that some anglers are still using floating baits. (The no surface floating baits or surface fishing rule must not be ignored) surface floating baits can spoil someone else's swim please respect the other anglers Phil has said he will ban bread altogether if anglers continue to use it as a floating hook or attractor bait. Carp can be caught using other methods, that’s all for now lets have some rain please.

Tight Lines.
